HOT STONES THERAPY

Practitioner

Louise Byford

Brief explanation of the therapy

Hot Stones Therapy has been used since ancient times.  It is the use of stones, usually made of Basalt - a rock whose properties allow it to absorb and retain heat - which are then place on specific points on the body so that the body can benefit from the heat.

What can the client expect at the appointment

You will be taken into a room where the atmosphere will be calm and serene.  Louise will then talk you through the therapy and discuss what she will do.

What happens in a session

The client will be asked to derobe and lie on a couch.  Oil will be used to cover the body before the warmed stones are then placed strategically on the body.  The oil helps to move the stones across the body and this helps maximise the effect of the heat from the stones.

How many sessions should the client need before they see a result

This will depend on each client and the results that they are hoping to achieve.

What can the therapy help

The warmed stones help relax the muscles as the heat penetrates deep within.  They can also encourage the expansion of the blood vessels.  This therefore can help with circulation problems and muscle strains as well as anxiety and tension.

Who would benefit from this type of therapy

Everybody would benefit from regular Hot Stones Therapy or even a one-off treatment to enable them to deal more effectively with the stresses and strains of their everyday lives.
